Colourful quilled patterns

These two mandalas were made using the same pattern.

The first was made using 7mm paper strips. I liked the chunky feel this created and it was the first time I've used this width of paper. It uses six shades ranging from pale yellow, orange , pink and red. It was finished with some adhesive pearls.

For this pattern you will need to create seven petal shapes in each colour. I used a grid to lay it out on to keep the shape regular. Start by using one of each colour to make the centre.

The second pattern was made using the regular 5mm strips and using six shades from white, pale lilac, through to darker purple, indigo and blue.

For this pattern you will need to create 15 petal shapes in each colour you are using. I have put the pattern template here to help you with placing the colours. To finish this off I created pale lilac and white tight coils using 3mm paper to add on the top.

This pattern has endless possibilities. Try using different colour combinations and making it larger. Have fun and enjoy your quilling!
